We held hands over
secluded candlelit dinners
moonlight rides
We talked until three
about world affairs
Kirekegaard and Spinoza
Days we read Balzac
Salinger and Thoreau
while Chopin stroked the air
Nights we recited Hansberry
Ionesco and Shakespeare
and danced to Errol Garner
You like cranberry cove tea
with a twist of lemon
I like watching you drink it
I love everything about you
