The Next Cardinal
Flitting about
from tree to tree
branch to branch
his fiery crest
crowns his feathery being
Inside the large birdhouse
the panel of seven
chirp in unison
selecting their Cardinal
He is grandly summoned
from emerald leaves
to the courtly birdhouse
in the trees
by a crimson messenger
Startled, but humble,
he crosses himself
and is elegantly robed
Pipes sound
All bow deeply
and kiss his raiment
